Command search
One search covers the whole application, and it is the only one. Ctrl+K opens it anywhere outside the prose, where Ctrl+K is Link, and Ctrl+Shift+P opens it everywhere; and so does the search control in the bar. It is a single field over a centred panel; Escape closes it and changes nothing. A few screens keep a field that narrows only their own list: Book settings, Help, Community and Guilds. Everything else, and everything across screens, is searched here.
Results are grouped by kind, in a fixed order. Books, chapters and scenes, entities, comments and chat, panels and layouts, settings, community works, people, guilds, tournaments, help and actions. The order never changes with the query, so where a kind appears is something you learn once. A kind with nothing in it is not shown at all, and an empty field finds nothing rather than everything.
Each group shows five and holds the rest behind More. Taking More opens that group whole and leaves the others as they were. Typing again closes them all.
The keyboard runs it. Down and Up move through every result of every group in the order they are listed, wrapping at the ends. Enter opens what is selected and closes the panel. The mouse does the same thing.
What each kind opens. A book opens on the shelf. A chapter or a scene opens the writing screen at it. An entity opens its sheet. A comment opens the comments panel with that comment in view, and a chat message opens chat. A panel or a layout opens the panel, or switches the grid to the layout when a book is open. A setting opens Settings with that control marked. A work opens in the reader, a person opens their public profile, and a guild or a tournament opens its own screen. Help opens the manual page. An action runs it: arrange the grid, focus mode, new book, save state.
Every kind is read from where it actually lives. The lists are asked for as the panel opens, so what you search is what the application holds now rather than what it held when it started. Two consequences follow, and both are deliberate. A kind that needs an account finds nothing for a guest: works, people, guilds and tournaments are empty until you sign in. A kind that needs an open book finds nothing without one: chapters, scenes, entities and comments are empty on the shelf and fill the moment a book is open.
Moderation is in the actions group for staff alone. An account holding the ticket-view cell finds it there; every other account finds nothing under that name, the same way the hub bar shows it to one and not the other.
Try: open a book, press Ctrl+K and type a word that stands in a chapter title and in a guild name. Both groups appear, in the order above, each result carrying the line that says where it stands. Then close the book and search again: the chapter group is gone and the guild group is not.
