Guilds

A guild is a named group with a page of its own. The screen holds two bands: the guilds you belong to, and the guilds you do not, which is the browse list. Every card carries the crest, the name, the motto, how many members it holds, how much is going on in it and whether it is open or by invitation. The card opens the guild page; the control under it joins.

The search narrows both bands at once. It matches the name and the motto, and it is read by the server rather than by this page, so a guild that is not on the first page of the list is still found by name.

Making a guild needs a paid account; joining one does not. Create guild stays where it is on a guest or a free account, disabled, with the reason beside it. Nothing is hidden from you because of the tier: a control you cannot use is still a control you can see and read.

The create dialog draws the guild before it exists. Name, motto, who may join and the language the first requirement is set to, with a preview banner that changes as you type. Crest opens the crest editor, and the crest you draw is what the banner shows in place of the seeded shape. The guild opens on its own page as soon as it is made, with you as its guild master.

Joining is immediate or it is an application. An open guild whose requirements you meet takes you at once. Anything else opens the apply dialog, which shows every requirement with what you hold against what the guild asks, the free text the officers wrote, and a message box. Filing an application replaces the control with Applied; the officers decide it on their management view.

Requirements are read against published figures. Language, words a week, sittings a week, the licence and the age of the account. Figures you have not published read as nothing, so a guild that asks for words a week cannot be joined until statistics publication is on.

Try: search for a guild by part of its motto. Both bands narrow, and the band you have no guild in says so in one line rather than standing empty.
