Panels
A panel has two views: the one in the grid and the full one. The view in the grid shows the state and the one or two actions used most. The full view does everything the engine allows for that panel, in place, without leaving for another screen.
The Panels screen holds every panel of the book except the editor. Panels in the top bar opens it, and so does Full view in a panel’s own header, which opens the screen with that panel chosen. The panels are tabs along the top: the ones your layout places first, in its order, then the rest the current mode allows. The chosen panel fills the workspace alone.
Back to book returns to where you were. Nothing is lost by the trip: the panels keep what they hold, and a location opened from a panel is waiting in the editor when you come back.
The tabs follow the mode. A panel declares the modes it appears in, so Mechanical shows no AI panels and the tab list is shorter. Changing the mode in Book settings changes the list.
On a phone there is no Panels screen. A tab there shows the panel’s full view already, so the panel header drops Full view and the bar offers no Panels item.
Try: open the History panel’s Full view from its header, then use Back to book. The workspace comes back with the same panels in the same places.
