New book

One step is required and the rest are optional. The wizard opens on Basics: a title and a mode, with Create now beside them. Everything after that is a rail of optional steps you may fill in now or leave to Book settings, which holds the same fields.

Basics. The title names the book and its file. The mode is Mechanical, Assisted or Full, and each carries the sentence that says what it allows. Assisted and Full run on an AI connection you bring, your own key or a local model set up in Settings, AI, at any tier; the wizard opens on Assisted once such a connection has tested ready, and on Mechanical before. The mode can be changed later in Book settings, and every change is recorded.

Where the file goes. Create asks for a folder and a file name. The file is a .nomicon, one file per book, and its path is what the shelf keeps.

Facts. Title, subtitle, genre, tags, summary and language. Tags are one line parted by commas. The language is picked from the app’s one language list, never typed. Every field may be left empty, and an empty field states nothing rather than stating an empty thing.

Targets. Book target words, objective and daily target. A target of zero is no target. The objective is one line saying what the book is aiming at.

Collaboration and sync. The collaboration model is turn based or real time, and it is the book’s own setting. The sync switch needs an account: as a guest it stays visible and disabled, with the reason beside it.

Create now ends the wizard on Basics; later steps end with Skip or Finish. The book is made with what you have filled in so far, and it opens on the writing screen. What the wizard writes is the same as what Book settings writes, so nothing is lost by skipping a step.

Where a refusal shows. If the engine refuses to make the book, the wizard says so under the step and stays open with your fields as you left them.

Try: type a title, press Create now, and you are writing. Open Book settings from the game menu, and the facts and targets you skipped are there to fill in.
